On October 6, 2026, Anthropic announced that it is expanding Claude Startups (Claude for Startups), its support program for startups. According to news reports, the program began in May 2026 and already has thousands of participating companies. With this expansion, more companies can receive the benefits, including bootstrapped startups without venture capital backing.

- Access to events for startups, such as hackathons and meetups
In addition, companies backed by venture capital firms that partner with Anthropic may receive up to $100,000 in additional API credits.

Who can apply
Startups founded within the last five years, or that have raised funding within the last two years, can apply. Venture capital backing is not required, so bootstrapped and pre-seed companies can also apply.
How to apply
To apply, you sign in to Claude Console, the management console for developers, and fill out the application form. You need an email address on the same domain as your company's website and a short description of what you are building.
Most applications get a decision within minutes, and the rest are reviewed manually. A manual review usually takes two to three business days, and the result arrives by email.
Things to keep in mind
- API credits expire six months after they are granted
- The credits apply only to Anthropic's first-party API used through Claude Console, and cannot be used through other cloud platforms such as Amazon Bedrock or Google Cloud's Vertex AI
- Organizations that already subscribe to Claude Team are not eligible for the free year of Team
