Overview
OpenClaw is an open-source personal AI assistant run by the OpenClaw Foundation, a US nonprofit. According to the official site, it runs on your own machine and can sort and send email, manage your calendar, work with files, browse the web and run shell commands, all through chat apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, iMessage and Signal. The site also highlights that it keeps memory across conversations and that the agent can write its own skills to extend its capabilities. The software is free under the MIT license, but using hosted models such as Claude or GPT incurs separate fees from each provider; local models can also be used.
