Overview
dots is an always-on AI agent for use inside ChatGPT, announced by OpenAI on September 29, 2026. Each agent has its own cloud computer and browser, and keeps working on the research and tasks you give it even while you are not talking to it. You can open its screen at any time to check on work in progress. It runs on GPT-6 Astra. Through plugins it connects to more than 4,000 apps, and you can talk to it from Slack and Microsoft Teams as well as ChatGPT. For some actions, such as sharing and purchases, you can set how approval works with Custom Rules. It is available to ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium subscribers, and the first agent is included in the plan price. On Pro, it is rolling out gradually in regions outside the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the UK.
